GAMES THAT ENERGIZED A GENERATION, RE-IMAGINED FOR iPhone

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

Atari is ready to thrill a new generation of gamers with the news that Missile Command and Super Breakout, two games which first electrified audiences nearly 30 years ago, have been re-imagined for the revolutionary touch screen iPhone and iPod® touch multimedia devices and are available now via the App Store priced at $4.99 each.

“it’s very exciting to be bringing these influential and timeless games in their redesigned form to the iPhone and iPod touch, devices which are leading the global charge in innovative handheld technology and changing the way we consume and interact with media,” said Phil Harrison, President of Infogrames Entertainment. “This is the first step in bringing Atari’s wonderful heritage of games right up to date for the iPhone generation.”

Both titles are true evolutions of the original hits with completely revamped visuals taking advantage of the hi spec screen, and innovative game play mechanics making full use of the unique Multi Touch interface and features of iPhone and iPod touch for immersive arcade action.

In Missile Command the player is challenged with defending the cities and stopping the nukes taking out missile stations. For the first time ever players will be able to use the Multi Touch feature to launch multiple missiles simultaneously bringing even more chaos to the screen.

The deceptively simple and mercilessly addictive paddle and ball gameplay of Super Breakout is given a brand new twist with the tilt feature used to give Super Power Ups during play.

Both games include 2-player support and the player can also listen to their own music collection during gameplay.
